Federal Court Preliminarily Approves ADA Class Settlement over Husqvarna Website Accessibility
A federal judge in Pennsylvania granted preliminary approval to a class action settlement requiring Husqvarna to make its digital platforms accessible to blind screen reader users within 24 months.
On November 7, 2025, the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania granted an unopposed motion for preliminary approval of a class action settlement and provisional class certification in an accessibility lawsuit brought under Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) against Husqvarna Professional Products, Inc.
According to the opinion, a blind plaintiff initially contacted Husqvarna in July 2024 regarding accessibility barriers on its online store before filing a federal complaint on June 6, 2025. The plaintiff alleged that Husqvarna failed to ensure its digital store was compatible with screen reading software, preventing blind visitors from accessing digital content.
Terms of the Settlement
Under the proposed agreement, Husqvarna must implement comprehensive injunctive measures:
Class Certification and Notice
The court provisionally certified a nationwide settlement class under Federal Rules of Civil Procedure 23(a) and 23(b)(2). The certified group comprises blind individuals or persons with visual disabilities in the United States who use auxiliary aids to navigate digital content and who accessed, attempted to access, or were deterred from accessing Husqvarna's website.
The court also approved the parties' notice plan, confirming that the dissemination procedures ensure accessibility for blind users through screen readers, and appointed East End Trial Group LLC as class counsel.
